AVID IV Class 10-30-15

The representatives from Graduate Services will be in the lobby of the S&T building tomorrow from 12:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Since this is the same time as our AVID IV class, we will not formally meet. You can use this time to meet with the representatives and place your orders if you wish to purchase something.  

Remember, you will place orders for your cap and gown separately from the NCC bookstore. I will let you know when it is time to make your order.

UNC-G Teacher Education Fellows Program

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is now accepting applications for its next cohort of Teacher Education Fellows. 

The UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program awards a $20,000.00 scholarship distributed incrementally over four years of study at UNCG. In addition to scholarships, the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program includes a variety of other benefits, including integrated seminars, networking events, community engagement opportunities, and leadership development. Fellows also live in relative proximity to one another as part of the Residential Colleges or Lloyd International Honors College. Additionally, Fellows study abroad during their sophomore year as part of the global focus of the program.

To be eligible for participation in the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program, a student must be a North Carolina resident and should have at least a 3.80 weighted cumulative high school GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1100 (verbal and math) or ACT composite score of 24. Students must also select one of the following UNCG majors that lead to N.C. teaching licensure:

*Elementary Education

*Middle Grades Education

*Special Education

*Dual (Elementary and Special) Education

*One of the following majors in the College of Arts and Sciences with Secondary Education concentrations:

    -Anthropology

    -Biology

    -Chemistry

    -Economics

    -English

    -Geography

    -History

    -Integrated Science

    -Mathematics

    -Physics

    -Political Science

    -Psychology

    -Sociology

If you meet these criteria, consider applying for a spot in this scholarship program by completing the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Application. Priority will be given to those applications (to both the University and the Program) received by January 1, 2016.

Record of College/Scholarship Application and Acceptance

Please use this document to record what colleges you have applied to, what scholarships you have applied for, what scholarships you have been offered and what college you will be attending. This data is extremely important for reporting purposes. We want to show everyone how successful the Class of 2016 will be in college acceptances and scholarship dollars. 

Your entry will count as a grade.

NC College Application Week 2015

North Carolina College Application Week is a statewide college access initiative designed to provide every NC graduating senior the opportunity to apply to college online through CFNC.org.

North Carolina College Application Week 2015 starts on Monday, November 2 at 7am and ends on Friday, November 6 at 5pm. Any applications submitted outside of the designated start and stop dates and times will not have the various fee waiver options.

On the CAW Seniors page, CFNC.org/CAWSeniors, there is a list of currently registered schools (located near the top of the page). This list is updated on a weekly basis leading up to the event.

To participate, you must have an updated and accurate CFNC.org account. Make sure the name you list is your legal name (the same name that shows up on your report card and in Power School) and that you list your Power School student ID (if you want to send electronic transcripts (ask your school counselor if you do not know your number).

This year, all 110 North Carolina colleges and universities have agreed to accept the College Board fee waiver for students who are eligible. Additionally, some schools have decided to go above and beyond and outright waive their application fees for all students applying during CAW. Super Seniors:  This is the opportune time to meet the syllabus requirement of applying to 4 colleges.

Free Open House at North Carolina Wesleyan College

North Carolina Wesleyan College is hosting a free Open House on November 11, 2015. Students can sign-up online via the NCWC website www.ncwc.edu or by visiting www.ncwc.edu/openhouse directly.

This is a great opportunity for students to see the campus, become acquainted with the office staff, as well as meet professors and current students.
