  1. 1). We (ECHS students) are way more prepared for college level classes than other high school students. Over half of them don't expect it to be hard. We already have a taste of the real college life and we'll adapt quicker and last longer than they will.
    2). Almost every college website has a Net Price Calculator to predict estimated cost for school.
    3). You should check your credit score at least once a year.

    2. According to College Board, it costs $17,860 to attend a four-year college.

    3. A Federal Direct PLUS loan for parents does not require a check of debt or current income, but a credit check is still needed.

  6. Emily V. - Being that we are in the Early College, we've experienced college already & are ahead of traditional schools. Checking your credit score at least once a year, is important. There is a Net Calculator on all school websites to predict how much will need to be paid towards your education. The net calculator helps make smart decisions whether or not you can afford certain schools.

  7. 1. Spending money for college is ok (I was definitely scared of that word loans).
    2. Every college website has tools to help come up with your total.
    3. don't exceed your earning when doing loans.

  8. 1. Avoid cash advances for credit cards... they usually charge a fee
    2. Do not go above your credit limit... it shows control over money and leaves you with emergency funds/credit
    3. never give out account information to anybody... or write it in an email or text message

  9. 1. Parents should be more like coaches throughout the course rather than making decisions for us.
    2. As seniors we have to learn the day-to-day needs because soon were going to be living on our own and we have to be ready.
    3. Sometimes grants, and scholorships arent enough to cover for college, sometimes you have to get loans even if you dont want them...

    1. Parent Student Loans(PLUS) are loans that can be taken out by your parent in order to cover the remaining costs of college for their child.
    2. Secure reference that have helped you along the way to going to college, with a "thank you" so that the reference will know that their help was appreciated.
    3. After researching all your loan options, apply for the loan no earlier than 90 days prior to the beginning of the term.

  12. There are private loans that can be taken out by banks and other private means that usually cover all other outstamding education costs. It is good to make a financial plan with the school so you do not have to pay a lump sum of cash each semester. There are also federal direct plus loans for students who are dependent and they also can cover all outstanding educational costs.

    2. As college students, we take on responsibilities to take care of ourselves and maintain awesome grades.
