Don't slack off your first year. A lot of ninth graders tend to think that it is okay to slack off and make bad grades because they basically have another 4 years to make the grades back up, but that only hurts them in the long run. Make every year important.
Your 9th grade year will set the tone for the rest of your high school career. If you start off strong and get good grades it will more than likely follow you throughout high school but if you mess around and play you'll spend the next 4 years trying to meet the minimum requirements on college applications. If you need help advocate for yourself! Don't let the influence of the people and "friends" around you keep you from excelling, more than likely your friend circle will be different your Super Senior year. Get some sleep!!! If the assignment is so important make time to do it and don't procrastinate. Stay humble and enjoy every second. Once you hit a certain level there is no returning and no time for mistakes. PLEASE stick it out. It will be tough and it will be hard, but the reward in the end is worth the struggle.
Realize your strengths and set your priorities accordingly. Know what classes you need to work with the most so you can pass all of your classes with high grades.
Don't be afraid to take harder classes. Just remember that you'll have to take them eventually, but taking them at nash with only 20 other people is going to be much easier than at a four year university with 200 other people.
As you go on, you will become tired of going to class and you'll skip. Just keep in mind what class it is and how many days you can miss because when they say they will fail you for missing days, they mean it. They don't care what excuse you have, they don't care that your GPA will go down, they aren't worried about your boo hoo's and what have you. It's your own fault and unless you have a doctor's note and a real reason, you're screwed. So just keep track of yourself if nothing else. it's gotta suck to fail because you weren't there, not because you couldnt do it.
Since you know your going to be here for 5 years go ahead and organize your classes ahead of time, know if your trying to get your associates of arts or science. My advice is to take as many classes as you can as long as you pass them and do not wait untill the last year to take 12 classes, make sure you organize and know how to plan out your semester wisely.
Just don't whine about the work. It's going to get much harder and harder and that's just life. Make it fun and enjoy being young with seriously little responsibility.
While still having fun, REMAIN FOCUS! Dont let the cares of life distract you or way you down. And when it gets rough, exhausting, and when u feel like giving up, go home that friday and complete ALL work and extra work, and take that ENTIRE weekend to yourself.
Succeed in all your classes now to have a lighter load later. College applications take time and having a ton of classes to deal with gets in the way of the other things you need to get done
Don't take this year for granted. They always tell you to finish off strong but some people forget to mention how important starting off strong is to. Your grades now determine how far you can set your GPA. Starting off bad is very difficult to pull up.
I would let the ninth graders know that they should that they should focus on school and don’t let your grades slip from the beginning. It is much harder to pull grades up and then keep the grades up rather than just keeping grades up.
Don't give in to the "freedom" that you have been granted at this school. Persevere through all the downfalls that may come your way, and never feel intimidated by the work, environment, peers, or teachers. Take advantage of the opportunity to succeed.
Never let anyone try to decide or dictate your future for you. Don't follow your heart, but follow your dreams. Only you can decide who you will be in life.
Always be attentive to class, and stay organized.
