AVID IV ASSIGNMENT 11-20-15

Now that you have selected your top three college choices and made application to those universities, it is time to give some thought to the cost of tuition, books, room and board, etc.  Lucky for you, you have complete most of your general education requirements by attending the Early College High School.  Most individuals leave their four-year institution with college loan debt; however, it should be the goal of every student to find scholarship monies to avoid the debt trap.

AVID IV Assignment 11-13-15

You should have already applied to college or be planning to apply in the near future. The pressure is on to find scholarships to offset cost. There are plenty of scholarships for senior high school students to apply to, it's just matter of finding the time to do so. I have listed 57 sites that offer scholarships to graduating seniors.
Your assignment today is to research the sites and find three that you meet the eligibility requirements for and begin the application process to apply.  Then, click on the reflection tab to submit your reflection.
The more scholarships you apply to, the better your chances of actually winning one are. Therefore, you are still required to complete this assignment even if you have already submitted your 4 required scholarships.
The objectives for this assignment are:
  • To surpass last year’s AVID seniors, who encumbered $2,207,052 in scholarship dollars.
  • To help students identify and seek out monetary support to pay for tuition, books, room/board, and other expenses.
  • To instruct students on how to self-advocate and learn how to secure financial resources to pay for post-secondary education.

This is independent work.  If you finish the assignment before 1:30 p.m. you should begin applying for one of the scholarships that you found.
You will only be given credit for completion of the assignment if your name and research findings are included in the GOGGLE DOC.
