The NEW Redesigned SAT

There are some big changes coming to the SAT® in March 2016. While there is still work to be done to support the December and January administrations, which will follow the same procedures as the others this fall, we want to give you a preview of how the SAT experience will change for you. All of the information below goes into effect with the March 2016 SAT administration.
Key changes
The essay is new, and it's optional.
The new SAT consists of four parts: the Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, Math Test, and the optional SAT Essay.
The score scale ranges from 400 to 1600.
The timing is 3 hours and 50 minutes with the SAT Essay, and 3 hours without it.
Each question has four answer choices.
Every student who uses an SAT fee waiver will also receive four college application fee waivers.
The Math Test is divided into two parts: Math Test – Calculator and Math Test – No Calculator.
