Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” ― Aristotle

What words of encouragement can you give your fellow Super Seniors (and yourself) as they are in the middle of the stressful "College Application time".

  1. An appropriate amount of stress is understood, but over stressing is not needed. This is ONLY college application time more hardships are to come. To start something great is always the hardest; hang in there it will be worth it.

  3. I would say at this point in our academic careers, there is really no point in stressing out over college applications. You know how hard you worked these past four years and it is going to be reflected on your high school transcript. I will say this, if you know you have done everything you were suppose to do you will be fine and hopefully you will be fine even if you did not. In all seriousness, there is a college out there for everybody. Good luck everyone, hope you all get into your dream school!

  4. Some encouraging words that I will give to my fellow classmates is not to stress and worry so much about the college application process. I know that it is easier said than done, but if you know that you gave and did all that you can do its no need to worry/stress. Also to not worry about others and what they are doing and focus on yourself. I do hope everyone gets in the college of their choice and better their future. Everything is meant to be.

  5. I honestly think that there is no point in stressing about college applications even if you have a full work load because I am doing it now. I hope that everyone gets into their dream colleges because I would feel bad if people did not get into their dream schools. I hope everyone try not to stress this semester, and I hope people do not get senioritis. I hope everyone get what they are looking for in life.

  6. Never give up on your dreams. If you want something bad enough, you will continue to work through it until you get to that point. Things may seem hard and stressful now, but in the end when you have accomplished your goals, you will thank yourself for never giving up. Although we are in a stressful time right now, with filling out applications and figuring out what we will do with the rest of our lives, we can all get through this and succeed.

  7. “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”

  8. Never give up or give in because education is the one thing they can't take away from you.

  9. Dont give up... even when or if you don't get into your dream college... maybe it really wasn't for you!!! Dont stress out!!! Stay cool, calm and collected.

  10. Do not stress. If you have tried your best, that is all that you can do. Filling out the college applications is only the beginning of getting started with college, there is plenty more to come.

  11. Try not to stress yourself out. If you've applied to your top schools just relax, continue to do well in your classes, and wait patiently. If you're in the process of filling out applications remain calm and don't freak out because of nerves or all of the information the schools are asking for. Please let your parent(s) and/or guardian(s) review your apps before submitting them! And remember if you don't get into the school of your choice, it must not have been meant for you anyways! (You're too good for them, that's why! :D)

  12. If I could give any advice to my fellow super seniors, it would be to take this year as seriously as possible! This year is a make or break year for all of us. It does not give you permission to stress but do consider the consequences of "senioritis". Every action that is made during this year could define your final GPA along with other important things. Just keep your head toward the goal and we will finish strong!

  13. My advice to my fellow super seniors (and myself) would be, you have come this far, so do NOT give up now. Some of my peers are really discouraged and are ready to throw in the towel, but we must realize we have been here 4+ years! Why waste all of that hard work because you are stressed out over the hustle and bustle of application time. Breathe...Relax...and Press on! We're almost at the finish line class of 2015!!!

  14. My advice to my fellow super senior (and myself) would be that there will be some stress when it comes to college applications and college planning but you will get through it. Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP. A good friend once told me, "If you try and fail or try and succeed, you will have learned something. If you never try you have already failed and will have learned nothing but self-defeat."

  15. I would just say that even though this time is stressful and you feel that this particular time will make or break the rest of your life it is not the end of the world. Everything happens for a reason so even if things do not go your way as for as college applications are concerned. That does not mean that it is the end of the world. Just because you might not get into your "dream" school doesn't mean that you won't have just as much fun, opportunities, or success somewhere else. So just stay positive and work your hardest, but don't forget that everything will work itself out.

  16. The advice I have for my fellow super seniors is to finish strong. This final year is extremely important whether you realize it or not. Keep your head up and push forward to success!

  17. It's almost over.

  18. Prioritize and time management. Do things as you go along. Don't wait till the last minute to cram everything in. Get your applications in on time and before the early decision deadline. It will really make a difference and you won't have to wait as long for a response letter.

  19. If no one else is proud of you, Be proud of yourself for making it this far. Know that you have worked hard to get to where you are. Don't give up. Soon enough we will be walking across the stage.

  20. Everyone has put in to much effort to give up now, now is not the time to flake out. We have been struggling for four years and now our fifth. It would be four years of persistence, long study nights, and failures to flake out now. We are all about to have a fresh new start, keep doing exactly what you're doing and you'll be fine. Also the idea of"Senioritis" is ridiculous. It is just a myth, you all know your limits, they suddenly haven't changed in this last semester. Your load might have changed, but your limits are pretty much the same. You know what you can handle and nearly all of you are jugglers. You can handle whatever is thrown at you, so keep going for that final push!

  21. My words of encouragement during this time of applying to college are to use your time wisely and to not stress out. Applying to several colleges can be very stress but if you do one thing at a time it can be a lot easier. Just take time to do everything that you need to do for one college and then move to the next one. This will make it easier so that you finish applying you know you have done everything and you won’t forget do one of the requirements.

  22. My words of encouragement during this semester would be to just BREATH, and know that everything will be okay. Time is flying and before you know it we'll be out for Christmas break. I also want to say don't stress about the little things; such as college applications. Just take your time with them, and fully apply yourself to them. Yes, I know it may be challenging to complete them but just think about all of the acceptance letters you'll get. The last thing I would advise us to do is help and comfort each other. Things can get very frustrating when applying to college and if we just have some one there for us comforting us along the way, things will go smoothly.

  23. I would just like to warn against overburdening yourself, at least from a psychological perspective. Sometimes the amount of work you have to do can seem daunting, often presenting itself as an overtly lengthy list or tower of paperwork, and that may make doing the work unappealing because you know that, when you're done with one thing, there are twenty others right behind it.

While there's no one surefire way to conquer this that is applicable to every person, there are a few things to recommend. Like, don't view it as a nigh insurmountable set of tasks, but instead take them one at a time, as they come. You could also enlist help to at least research some things for you or give you advice. I could list more, but I'm here to inspire you, not waste your precious time.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is: if you apply yourself, you can overcome anything (with a few exceptions, but we will disregard them; you're supposed to be unabashedly oozing with inspiration, and you shouldn't let technicalities get in the way of that).

  24. Some words of encouragement that I give is to never stress to the point of wanting to give up now. I know a lot about stressing out and this is a big year for all of us. We did not make it almost five years to just throw in the towel over college and this application process. I know it is very easy to just wait a long time to turn in college applications because of a deadline, but wouldn't it much easier to get most of it over with? I know that I can't really start to give a speech about how time management is important because I hardly even follow that advice, but I plan to move ahead so that I know I will have a college waiting for me at the end of the year and so should you.

  25. To those of you that are going to a four year, here's what I want to say. Push through. Once this parts over with, and you're accepted to your dream school, you get to have the time of your life. Meet new people, do new things, and get the education that you desire. So just hang on, keep your mind straight, and don't let senioritis whoop up on you too bad.
To those of you that are like mee not going to a 4 year, let's get through this part. I know it's stressful, trying not to fail when you feel like what were doing doesn't apply to you. Hang in there till may. We'll make it through this!

  26. Always stay focus and never give up on the prize. Cause in the end it will be well worth it once your getting those acceptance letters and that college degree. Dont ever let yourslf get to that point where you feel like giving up its not worth it. Just work hard and do your absolute best

    ReplyDelete
  27. Don't quit. Keep going. Yes, applying is stressful, but believe it or not, once you apply and get accepted, all the hard work and stress is over. Hard work, pays off so just keep up the good work and don't psych yourself out. "You've got this!"

  28. Hey guys my advice is not as deep and philosophical as some people may expect its actually quite simple. Just have fun. This is our Senior year in High School. The last thing we want to remember it for is not how we hated it or how much hell we went through. We all know classes are hard it sucks (Especially English 231). So lets try to focus on the more fun parts of our final days here. I am looking forward to graduation day with you all, and hopefully even prom ;).

  30. Don't focus so hard on education. A piece of paper means nothing compared to your happiness. Don't listen to what everyone else is telling you, college is not the only way to be happy. Do what makes YOU happy and let go of everything else. Quitting does NOT make you weak. Quitting keeps you sane.

  31. Never forget that a letter does not define you. Remember it does not matter the schooling but what you do with your life afterwards. Do not let others intimidate or discourage you.
Because remember you are the next generation of doctors, teachers, nurses, assistants. You should not let anyone come in between you from accomplishing all you can. And the schools know this, which is why they want to put pressure on you because you are they're foundation for the next stage of their life. No matter who tells you other wise. You can accomplish great things. So take this time not to stress because it is not the college that matters, take this time to prepare yourself for adulthood. And progress to maturity.

  32. Just remember hard work pays off. All this stress you are going through now will soon be over. Keep your cool, you got this!
(‘it ain't nothing but a thing’)

  33. It is not that serious. Most of us have an idea of where we can get in and if we do not get in then we should have a safe school. If not then goodluck in life.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If you find yourself getting stressed out look for help either from your teachers or your peers. Do not let yourself get overly stressed from school work or your personal life, but understand that some stress can be good and help motivate you to succeed. Also be sure to think of yourself when applying to universities. Do not try to please everyone else with where you go to school if it will not make you happy.

  35. Remember the song "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Also a small excert from "Thornmail" by Pentakill, "The Thornmail will help us, prevail and survive".Our Thornmail is our degrees, diploma, scores, and scholarship being the armor we need to survive.

  36. The thing that encourages me the most and can help other people is my favorite verse. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" Philippians 4:13. These are great words of encouragement and help me get through these hard and stressful days.

  37. My advice is even when you don't want to get out of bed, do it anyway. And even when a C looks good enough to you, remember an A looks much better! Just keep going, you've been here four years, you can do one more. Make it worth the wait.

  38. - Its important for you to work hard to reach your goals, but its also important to take time to enjoy yourself during your last year here.

    - Pace yourself, don't try to do everything now and don't try to do everything at the last minute.

    - Just relax and channel your stress so that it drives you instead of hindering you

The time to relax is when you don't have time for it. ~Jim Goodwin and Sydney J. Harris

  40. These times are tough but with the help of two famous Disney Quotes we can get through this. From Finding Nemo, Dory's "Just Keep Swimming, and Peter Pan's Tinkerbelle, says "With a little faith, trust, and Pixie dust; we can fly!"
