Three things that I learned while listening to the CFNC representative are that 1) where to sign up for colleges on cfnc, 2) where to go if I fail to check the box for submitting my transcript on my application, and 3) some colleges wave the application fee when applying through cfnc.
1. CFNC auto-fills certain parts of a college application if you have already filled one out. 2. I learned how to add a college that I applied to if the application was on a different site than CFNC. 3. I also learned how to send my transcript electronically to colleges inside of North Carolina.
1. Make sure all information in your profile matches in order to send off your transcripts 2. Transcript will be evaluated on academic credits 3. Fill in information already done for the first application.
1. I learned that Application week is in November, the 2nd through the 6th. 2. I learned that none of the schools I'm interested in participate in Application week. 3. I learned that there's plenty of information about scholarships and grants on CFNC and I will be able to go through and apply to receive them through the website.
I learned that if a college misplace or say they did not receive my application, all I have to do is go to my submitted applications and click on the button that says "view/print" and my confirmation will appear.
The second thing that I learned is that it is important to apply to colleges through CFNC because my counselor can track the application. However, if I don't go through College Foundation she will not be able to track it.
The last thing that I learned from the CFNC Representative was the difference between need based scholarships and Merit based scholarships. Need-based scholarships are specific scholarships basically for low-income families. Merit-based scholarships are those based on what a student achieves during high school.
