The Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Scholarship Application online process is now open. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, January 15, 2014
GMS will select 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. We provide Gates Millennium Scholars with personal and professional development through our leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career.
Our program is more than a scholarship—it’s an opportunity to change your life!Just ask Deonte Bridges how much the GMS scholarship means to him.
The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunityfor outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential by:
•Reducing financial barriers for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise who have significant financial need;•Increasing the representation of these target groups in the disciplines of computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health and the sciences, where these groups are severely underrepresented;
•Developing a diversified cadre of future leaders for America by facilitating successful completion of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees; and
•Providing seamless support from undergraduate through doctoral programs

Scholarship - US Senate Youth Scholarship

U. S. Senate Youth Scholarship:
North Carolina Senators Richard Burr and Kay Hagan have announced that the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) has begun its statewide selection process.Information may be found at http://senateyouthnc.webs.com/.   The United States Senate Youth Program is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in public service.  The two students who win the $5,000 scholarship will also spend an all-expenses paid week in Washington, D.C. March 8-15, 2014, attending events and sessions with Senators, executive cabinet members, Supreme Court justices and directors from various federal agencies.  Students do not need to be nominated by their guidance office, their school or any organization.  Students need only to complete the application and have all the required signatures, write an essay and submit a short presentation highlighting themselves.

North Carolina applications are now available and will be accessible on the website until October 6, 2013. Eligibility requirements and application information can be found athttp://senateyouthnc.webs.com/
