U. S. Senate Youth Scholarship:
North Carolina Senators Richard Burr and Kay Hagan have announced that the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) has begun its statewide selection process.Information may be found at http://senateyouthnc.webs.com/ . The United States Senate Youth Program is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in public service. The two students who win the $5,000 scholarship will also spend an all-expenses paid week in Washington, D.C. March 8-15, 2014, attending events and sessions with Senators, executive cabinet members, Supreme Court justices and directors from various federal agencies. Students do not need to be nominated by their guidance office, their school or any organization. Students need only to complete the application and have all the required signatures, write an essay and submit a short presentation highlighting themselves.
