When searching for a university, you would rather go somewhere where you graduate with a higher rank rather than being in the middle or lower in your class. I, also, learned a great guide to completing a personal statement.
I learned that it's better to be in the top 10th percentile of your class at a lesser renowned college than to be in higher percentiles at more prestigious establishments. I also learned that FSU's business school outranks NC State's and is only bested by Duke's at number 1 and Chapel Hill's at number 2.
I learned that they have several connections with China and that they have a Global Scholars Program. Both of these things mean that they have awesome study abroad opportunities. This is important to me because studying abroad is one of the main things that I want to do when I go to college.
FSU's visit to ECHS gave me the inside of an admission's officers mind of what exactly they are looking for in a student's essay. " I am, I've done, I will" is the greatest formula to use in your essay. Your essay should express yourself. Criminal Justice, which is my intended major, is the highest school (major) that FSU holds. The student:teacher ratio is 16:1, which is great for those who are looking for small schools to attend.
I earned that they have a fabulous study abroad program and that they are really credited and take pride in themselves as well as in their students. That's something I look for in a university.
I've learned from my visit to FSU with Early College that they offer a 3+2 Program that is joint with NC State, where you are able to earn your credits jointly with FSU and NC State at the same time. Also, I learned that they are offering the debt-free scholarship to only 50 Early College students this year, so its important that you make sure that your Scholarship Application stands out above them all.
I leanred numerous tips about writing a personal statement on all college apps, and I also learned they will be limiting the early college scholarship to 50 kids next year :(
I learned that for the Early College program there is only 50 scholarships open, so if you really want to get into FSU apply now. Another thing i learned was a great way to write your essay/ personal statement.
When the people from FSU came, they enlightened me on the types of programs they offer, which really helped a lot to know that they offer a business program. Or programs to be more accurate. I also learned that they are only taking 50 early college students this year for their "full ride" scholarship. This was something that I was curious about. Considering that there are a few early college programs, and that there may be students coming from each school to get their free college on, I was very curious to know how long they would let this sort of thing happen (can't really afford to give everyone free college, ya know?). So they answered that for me. The also gave me some insight as so how small the school was and how personal the teachers were able to be with the students seeing as how our class room friday was considered to be "large." I'm glad they came by. It really helps to know your options.
I learned that you should consider what school you can graduate in the top of your class and that FSU has many connections in China with their Global Scholars program.
I learned that you should choose a school that you will be successful in and that whether you choose an HBCU or a PWI, you determine your success and that you should choose the campus that works for you.
I learned, well it was more of a realization, that I am not just competing with people in my state and country for spots at universities, but students on a global level. I also learned that there are 50 spots open for a full scholarship for students graduating from the early college program.
I learned that basically a bachelor degree is a degree and it doesn't matter where you get it from. You want to go to a school where you can do good so you will have something to look for later. Also talk about yourself personally on your writing assignment.
The two things that I learned about FSU are that they are only admitting 50 people with the Early College scholarship and that they have study abroad locations in many different places.
